Artist Statement
I’m Joy Grannis, an illustrator and artist from Downeast Maine. Growing up on a homestead, I spent my childhood and teenage years immersed in the evergreen forests and wildflower meadows that surrounded me. This connection to nature fostered a deep respect for the environment and a passion for advocating for its protection. With a B.A. in environmental planning and policy from the University of Southern Maine and a graduate certificate in scientific illustration from California State University, I blend my scientific knowledge with my artistic vision to create works that celebrate the natural world and inspire conservation. I primarily work with watercolor, gouache, and digital media.
